This US performer appeared in our 2016 Festival more by chance and was a huge attraction. So for our 20th Anniversary we simply had to have him back!!
A bright white rainbow vintage onesie ski suit, 80’s music and a unicorn riding a 12-foot unicorn unicycle. Yes, it's as crazy, funny and ridiculous as it sounds! Featuring unbelievable unicycle skills by a world champion unicyclist who has over 29 years of experience. For the brand new finale, this daredevil will be on top of one of the tallest unicycles in the world juggling a torch, a knife and a surprise dangerous object that has killed more people than sharks last year! An original grand finale that you have never seen before cause only one person in the world is brave enough to do it.
Julie Rose - Puppeteer
Julie Rose McCormick is back with us again this year. Julie Rose has been part of the Muckno Mania Festival from the first year back in 1999 and we have had her back many times over the last 20 years. Puppeteer Julie-Rose McCormick brings a lively array of puppet shows; Meet Cheeky Monkey, See Punch and Judy tangle with the Crocodile, lots of action with the warriors in the Chinese Princess and the Cricket.
Fire Brigade Service
We welcome back to the Sunday programme for our 20th Anniversary our local Fire Brigade Service. They have been great supporters at our Festival over the years. On the day they will provide demonstrations and displays, which promotes important lessons on fire safety and accident prevention. Also giveaways on the day.
The Funday would not be the same without a kid’s zone. This zone is where the kids can have as much fun as possible. It contains bouncing castles, slides, kids outdoor games, face painting and much more. Please note the wristband system will be in operation for this.
Back by popular demand is our Craft Marquee. Join us in the Marquee for balloon modelling and receive goodie bags courtesy of AIB.
Throw a pot!
Busy Bee Ceramics is going to be in our Craft Marquee again this year. So why not call in and learn how to “Throw a Pot on the Potter’s Wheel” and create your own piece of pottery for home.

Find a Fairy Door in the Forest 3pm – 4pm
Introduced to last year’s programme and its most definitely back by popular demand so Castleblayney will again welcome an invasion of magical fairies who have set up home in the forest at Lough Muckno. We cannot guarantee that you will see a fairy on the day but be assured wherever you see a Fairy Door, a fairy cannot be far away. Trips to the Fairy Forest are only between the times 12 noon to 2pm on Friday, 12 noon to 2pm on Saturday and 3pm to 4pm on Sunday. The fairies have moved so gather at the seating area at The Point and our Fairy guides will find you.
Don’t miss this magical opportunity. This forest trail is suited to young walkers.
“A Community’s Together” PEACE Project
The “ Community Together” project is based in Castleblayney and works with hundreds of young people and adults from cross community and ethnic minorities using primarily the medium of art to overcome religious cultural and ethnic differences. . Castleblayney Community Enterprise is partnered with Blayney Cultural Network Group and Church of Ireland on this project which is supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
This exciting Cultural Fair on the shores of Lough Muckno has as its aim to promote awareness of the different cultures that exist within our Community. You will have an opportunity to sample some traditional foods and recipes of the many different nationalities that are now living in Castleblayney. Also find out about their history, gain some knowledge of their Country and get to see their traditional dress. Countries involved include: Lithuania, China, Pakistan, India, Philippines, Poland, Hungary and Ireland.
Cultural Celebration Event
To complement the Cultural Fair we are hosting a special Cultural Celebration Event which is also celebrating diversity. This event will take place between 4pm-6pm and you are invited to join us and enjoy street performers Hakuna Matata.
Hakuna Matata Acrobats
Hakuna Matata offer a 30 minute high energy, high skill acrobatics show, enjoyed by both children and adults alike. Often defying belief but guaranteeing good humour these acrobats perform mind-boggling manoeuvres and unbelievable acrobatics with broad grins. Acrobatics, contortion, juggling, comedy: this show is a non-stop roller coaster of skill from beginning to end.
Kerala Beats this is a South Indian Chenda (drum) team based in Belfast originally hail from South India (Kerala).
These events are staged under the Community Together Project which is part financed by the European Union’s European Regional Development fund through the Peace IV Programme and funded through Monaghan Peace Partnership.
National Recreation Week and National Play Day
Muckno Mania Festival were delighted to be involved through the offices of Monaghan Sports Partnership with both National Recreation Week and National Play day.
National Recreation Week
The Muckno Mania Festival enjoyed working with young people in a series of workshops during National Recreation Week. The fruits of some of these workshops including African & Samba Drumming will be seen over the Festival weekend.
National Play Day
The Muckno Mania Festival are happy to again be able to promote public awareness of play. A number of activities and games have been included in our Fun Day Sunday programme and we encourage you to bring your child along for some simply fun.
